About Me

Hi guys,

Sipadan Island (by interestingplace)
My name is Charlene Tan, I come from a multi-cultural country, Malaysia and the city of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. This part of Malaysia has the most beautiful and exotic islands in the world. For one, Sipadan Island is one of the most beautiful island in the world. It was once nominated as a pick for one of the 7 wonders in the world.

Anyway, beside beutiful island, Sabah has the lots of autentic and diversive food from thoughout. We have food from Malay, Chinese, Indian, Nyonya, or even those which are mixed within the culture.

Kuih-muih (by Kayes)
Besides having surrounded with food from where I come from, I too grew up in a family that has lots of passion for food. My grandmother and few of my aunt makes tranditional 'kuih-muih', and sells them. Uncles and Cousins who are chefs in Hotels, and last but not least my mother owns a restaurant, which dishes are mainly mixed cultural food.

I never thought of cooking until I leave home for further studies and realise that I miss home food so much. Since then on i started asking my mum for recipes or google recipe and from trial and error make it as close to home as posible.

Hence, started my journey to discover food around perth that feels like home and also to get insperation to perfect my own recipe. Though this blog I would write on some of the place that i have been to and also some of my own favours shops and recipe.

Hope you guys enjoy reading.
