Exegesis

In accordance to Kenneth (2011), the relationship and bond among the blogger and his reader is the most interesting part of blogging. That is the reason I choose to use blog as my central node, because it can be set as public profile, I get to meet people from all around the world that loves food. The interactions between both sides create a two way communication, as corresponds to one of Grunig’s four models of public relations, two-way symmetrical communication, which suggests an equal right of voicing among both sides.  Granovetter from the reading (Rettberg. 2008), he mentioned that most social network builds upon sociological theories of social network, he also argues that strong ties are less important compare to the weak ties, when talking about spreading the ideas through communities.

I used the same name, Charl410 throughout my web presence as a way for people to recognise me, and as way to constitute a standard identity for myself.  To suit my theme and also my needs and identity, I change the background and fonts and most design, as media does not have a say on your identity, you are open to reshape and refashion it. (Hamley, 2001) To make a web site design salient, two considerations are required: giving attention to technical aspects of web site design and taking into account what the readers are looking for and what’s best to be done to attract their interest. The considerations indicate that understanding the way readers evaluate web sites is essential to the success of electronic commerce. (Kang & Kim. 2006) By understand what the readers prefer in the real life sense, it is easier for me to choose what type of colours I should use in term of not too distracting or too soft. In a way, I try to make my blog as relaxing to read and view as possible. So, it will not only prevent readers from leaving but also to keep them reading and getting more interested with whatever I posted.

As for the contributing nodes, I choose Twitter, Flickr and also Urban Spoon. Twitter is considered as a micro blogging site. For those who despite long and lengthy blog, they can follow me on twitter and if they see anything that they are interested in they could click in and read more of it. Twitter has an easier profile outline, it gives me the chance to have a closer interaction between me and my reader, beside it is also easy to find the personal information of my readers just by clicking on their personal information button (Costa, Beham, Ebner and Reinhardt.2009) It gives me the chance to know my readers or followers in a more deeper level.

Flickr is a photo sharing website, as they as a picture speaks a thousand words. Though this photo blog, I get to showcase some of the pictures of my love for food. Besides, in this site I get to know people from around the world that loves photography and some of them take beautiful pictures of food around the world. In this site, I will post a picture and give a description to it. The best thing about Flickr is it allows you to link the pictures with places you been to. Even though the Flickr blog I have is not particularly filled with beautiful picture, but it is too a way for me to get to know new people that has the same interest as me.

Last but not least I used created an Urban Spoon account, as it also contains a profile, and a friend list. I would assume that it is a social networking site.  In that site I can find shops that are located in Perth. It helps me to ease the process of finding good food in Perth. Besides, it also helps me to save where and what are some of my favourites and likes, even my dislikes. It also allows me to add friends, the ‘write a review’ part of this site, allow me to express my feel towards the food and services that is provided in that shop. I too can read reviews from varies type of people. This is because the contents in Urban Spoon are mostly public.

For all the contributing nodes, I used the same picture, however in the intention of giving a different feel to the central nodes I have chosen a completely different feel for the blog. By using the name it should be clear that it is the same writer, and with the entire link between each other. Therefore, I choose a more bright and striking colours for my blog. It is also because in Blogspot, I am able to create and have all the freedom for the design. Besides, I also have the layout spread out into 2 columns, one for all my links and the other is for the posts I made. It is less complicated compared to the 3 column format and everything is easily visible throughout the post.

As a conclusion, I would say that having a consistency when dealing with web presence is a good way to show people who and what your interests are. It will help you to create a whole line of positive followers and readers for blog. As the power of technology arises, employers in the near future might just include your web presence in your resume. As less privacy is applied and it may show the true self of you rather than the one in the pre-scripted resume. By having this web presence, it does not only allows me to discover many more information on my topic. The presence actually helps me in getting to know others and giving me an outranging happiness when others out there is appreciating my post.
